Mwinyi heads for 2nd Africa-Indonesia Forum

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Hus sein Ali Mwinyi departed on Saturday for Indonesia to attend the second Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF), which runs from today until September 3, 2024.
 Dr Mwinyi is representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the event, which carries the theme “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063.”
The forum, hosted in Bali, will see participation from African leaders including those from Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Ghana, Liberia and Eswatini. Dr Mwinyi is accompanied by senior government officials from both sides of the union.
Following the IAF, Dr Mwinyi will continue to Jakarta for a two-day working visit beginning September 4, 2024.
During this visit, the Tanzanian delegation will also attend the High Level Forum on Multi Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP), held in conjunction with the IAF.
Both the IAF and HLF MSP will feature private sector and state-owned enterprises, with agreements expected to be worth up to US$3.5 billion (about 9.5 trillion TZS).
The IAF will be attended by 855 participants from various countries, while the HLF MSP, a collaboration between Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), is expected to draw up to 1,500 participants, including delegates from African and Global South countries.
Tanzanian institutions such as the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (TCCIA), Government Procurement Services Agency (GPSA), Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) will have the opportunity to present their insights on business and investment opportunities.
 To commemorate 60 years of Tanzania-Indonesia relations, companies from both nations will sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). Among the agreements, the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA) will sign an MoU with the Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM).
Other MoUs, including agreements involving TIC, TFRA, TPDC and the Indonesian company ESSA for a fertiliser manufacturing investment in Tanzania, will be announced during the visit.
