Mwinjuma inaugurates children’s sport field

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, has officially inaugurated a new football training ground for children at Msimbazi Mseto Primary School in Dar es Salaam.
The launch, which took place on March 5, is part of ongoing efforts to promote youth sports development in Tanzania.
Speaking at the event, Mwinjuma emphasised the power of sports in uniting people beyond cultural and geographical differences.
“One of the greatest benefits of sports is its ability to bring people together. The spirit of sportsmanship and friendship strengthens relationships among our people and contributes to deeper diplomatic ties,” said Mwinjuma.
During his speech, Mwinjuma highlighted Tanzania’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) to improve sports infrastructure and provide modern training programmes for young athletes.
“While we recognise the progress we have made together, we also acknowledge that there is still much more to do. Tanzania looks forward to strengthening its partnership with TİKA to upgrade sports facilities, collaborate on training programmes and provide modern equipment for youth sports development,” he added.

However, Mwinjuma urged local leaders and sports stakeholders to actively participate in realising the vision of youth sports development in the country.
“At this stage, local leaders and sports stakeholders must fully engage in making this vision a reality,”
“By bringing people together and fostering strong relationships, we can improve the future of sports in our country and create positive changes in our communities,” he stated.
The newly launched football ground is expected to provide a safe and structured environment for children to develop their talents, contributing to the overall growth of Tanzanian football at the grassroots level.
