Mwanza banks on the Cake Exhibition to promote the Lake Zone’s baking excellence

MWANZA: ENTREPRENEURS, bakers and cake traders from the Lake Zone have been urged to turn up in large numbers for the Lake Zone Cake Exhibition 2026, which aims to promote the baking industry, create employment opportunities and provide a platform for stakeholders to showcase their products and access new markets.

Speaking about preparations for the exhibition in Mwanza today, August 14, 2026,  the Coordinator of the Lake Zone Cake Exhibition 2026, Mr Bernard James said the event would bring together bakers, suppliers of cake-making equipment and other stakeholders in the sector.

He said the exhibition will be held from September 7 to 11 this year at Gandi Hall in Mwanza, providing an important platform for players in the industry to showcase their products, exchange experiences and explore new business opportunities.

He said the exhibition is sponsored by BJ Empire, CRDB bank, Stronger Tech PMC, Liffyaa’ saloon,Sayona, Lizzy cake tools and Azam

According to Mr James, the cake and baking products sector has been growing rapidly in Tanzania, making the exhibition an important opportunity for entrepreneurs to acquire new skills, exchange ideas and establish new markets for their products.

He said participants would have an opportunity to display their products and equipment while also building business networks and expanding their customer base.

James added that the exhibition would feature Smart Cakes, one of the country’s major cake service providers, which is expected to share its experience and provide education to stakeholders in the sector.

He said one of the key areas of focus would be training on cake pricing and the cost of equipment and materials used in cake production, noting that such knowledge would enable entrepreneurs to run their businesses more efficiently and improve profitability.

“This exhibition is not only about displaying products, but also about learning how to run a business, set appropriate prices and make use of the opportunities available in this sector,” James said.

Mr James said some participants from last year’s exhibition had managed to expand their businesses, open new offices and create additional employment opportunities after gaining access to customers and other business stakeholders.

Meanwhile, one of the organisers from BJ Empire, Ms Magdalena Laizer, urged residents of the Lake Zone to attend the exhibition in large numbers, saying it would provide an opportunity for people to learn more about the baking industry and discover the potential it offers.

Ms Laizer said greater participation by members of the public and businesspeople would help strengthen the sector and create more opportunities for young people and women to engage in entrepreneurship.
