MsingiTek unveiled in Manyara to boost learning
MANYARA: More than 24,000 pupils in Manyara Region are set to benefit from MsingiTek, a tablet-based learning programme designed to improve reading, writing and numeracy skills among pupils in grades One to three.
The programme is being implemented in primary schools in Simanjiro and Kiteto districts, with the first phase covering 50 schools and benefiting more than 11,000 pupils.
Speaking at the regional launch of the project at Oloimugi Primary School in Kiteto District on August 13, 2026, Manyara Regional Assistant Administrative Secretary (Education), Joseph Mabeyo, said the second phase, covering another 50 schools, is underway and is expected to be completed by October this year.
Mabeyo said the programme had already started producing positive results, with assessments by regional and district education teams showing improved reading, writing and numeracy skills among pupils.
Meanwhile, Esukuta Primary School Headteacher in Kiteto District, Anna Mgode, said the tablets had reduced teachers’ workload and made it easier to transfer literacy and numeracy skills to pupils while also encouraging them to attend school.
The MsingiTek project is implemented by Imagine Worldwide in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in 11 districts across Manyara, Shinyanga, Tabora, Morogoro and Ruvuma regions.
The initiative supports Government efforts to strengthen basic literacy and numeracy skills among children and complements the strategic programme launched by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in January this year to improve reading, writing and numeracy competencies among children in pre-primary and early primary education.
