Msigwa sees advanced AFCON preparations reportedly in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda

MOROGORO: THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Chief Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has urged Tanzanians not to be concerned about preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), insisting that Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda will remain the host countries for the tournament.

Msigwa said Tanzania’s preparations for the continental football tournament were progressing well, urging the public to disregard reports intended to create fear over the possibility of AFCON 2027 being moved from the three East African countries.

Speaking to journalists at the Mazimbu Freedom Fighters Camp in Morogoro, Msigwa said there was no reason for Tanzanians to be worried about preparations for the tournament.

“Let no one frighten Tanzanians; AFCON will not be moved. I want to assure you that our preparations for AFCON are going very well. It will be held in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, and preparations are progressing well,” he said.
