VICE President Dr Philip Mpango has urged contractors in the country to continue giving opportunities to locals in the areas where various projects are being executed in order to enhance their economic status and improve their life.
Dr Mpango made the call on Thursday when he inspected various development projects being implemented in Buhigwe District, Kigoma Region.
Dr Mpango said that besides being given the opportunities, citizens in the project areas should work hard and exploit unfolding opportunities well to attain development.
“We must work hard and take advantage of the development projects being implemented in our areas to attain development,” Dr Mpango told Buhigwe residents.
He further called upon Buhingwe residents to take advantage of the fee-free education opportunities from primary schools to Form Six being implemented by the government.
In a related development, the VP also inspected an ongoing construction project of Buhigwe-Muyama-Kasumo road.
According to him, the implementation of the project is part of the government efforts to open up Kigoma Region by linking it with other regions and the neighbouring countries thus stimulating business and economic growth for wananchi.
Dr Mpango directed the government and ruling party (CCM) leaders in the region to cooperate and ensure that the project is completed on time and efficiently.
Dr Mpango also inspected the construction of a dispensary at Kasumo Village and houses for health workers, a project which is implemented by wananchi in collaboration with the government.
The VP commended Kasumo villagers for their contribution to the construction of the dispensary, urging them to continue contributing in other development projects.
He noted that the government will also renovate teachers ‘houses at Lemba Primary School located next to the dispensary which have been facing a lot of challenges for a long time.”
In another development, the Vice President inspected the construction of an A-level girls’ secondary school at Kasumo Village, Kajana Ward that comprise 18 buildings.
While in Kigoma, Dr Mpango also inspected the construction of Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and Chama cha Mapinduzi offices and the District Commissioner’s House in Buhigwe District.
