MP optimistic on water supply improvement 

MARA: MUSOMA Rural Member of Parliament (MP), Professor Sospeter Muhongo has said all 68 villages in his constituency are implementing water projects which are at different stages of execution.

Prof Muhongo made the statement yesterday detailing that the projects aimed at boosting clean water availability in the villages through effective use ofc Lake Victoria.

He said the Mugango-Kiabakari-Butiama Water Pipeline Project worth 70.5 bn/- funded by the Arab Bank for Development in Africa (BADEA) is at final stage and is expected to supply a total of 17.5 million litres of water at Mugango Ward, Tegeruka, Busambara, Kiriba and Ifulifu wards.

He said the equipment for finalization of the project have already arrived in the country from China and Türkiye.

On the other hand, Prof Muhongo said already a water tank with 300,000 litres capacity has been constructed at Mabuimerafuru village to supply water at Chumvi, Masinono and Bugwema Villages.

He said at Bwasi Ward the water tank of 150,000 litres capacity constructed to supply water at Bwasi Village, Kome and Bunda noting that the tank drives its water from Bujaga Water Pipeline.

Furthermore, he said at Murangi Ward the government has already offered a tender to obtain water pipeline noting the ward which encompass Lyasembe and Murangi Village will tape their water from Mabuimerafuru Water Tank.

Prof Muhongo said other village including Mkikiri has already been supplied with clean water while at the Tegaruka, Mayani and Kataryo villages water pipeline are laid signaling a kick off of clean water supply in few days to come.

The water projects at Musoma villages have been supervised by the government through the Musoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MUWASA) and the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA).

He thanked the government led by President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for allocating funds that increase clean water accessibility in Musoma Village.
