Mortuary attendant, witchdoctor found with human body

KAGERA: POLICE in Kagera Region are investigating a disturbing case where a mortuary attendant and a witchdoctor were allegedly found in possession of human body parts.

Regional Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Blasius Chatanda, identified the suspects as Randani Seme Mlomo (64), a mortuary attendant at Vwawa Hospital in Songwe Region and Kelvin Piason Mdolo (42), a witchdoctor residing in Mbozi District, also in Songwe Region.

According to SACP Chatanda, police detectives arrested Mdolo on June 17 this year after receiving a tip-off. He was apprehended at Kibeta Guest House in Bukoba Municipality.

“Upon searching him, police found dried human body parts including female sexual organs, a human skull and a dried python. When interrogated, Mdolo named Mlomo as the individual who supplied him with the body parts,” said SACP Chatanda.

He noted that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the two suspects acted alone or are part of a wider organised crime network. SACP Chatanda cautioned Kagera residents against outdated superstitious beliefs that suggest possessing human body parts can lead to sudden wealth.

He urged citizens to work hard, earn an honest living and respect the law. He added that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
