Morocco sink Canada to qualify for World Cup last 16

MOROCCO has become a second African country after Senegal to qualify for the first knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA Qatar world cup after beating Canada 2-1.

The Lions of Atlas sailed through to the last 16 after garnering a total of seven points to lead Group F, followed by Croatia with five points.

Croatia and Belgium played to 0-0 as the latter exited the tournament after collecting only four points.

Canada conceded two goals in the first 30 minutes of the game.

Morocco’s defender’s own goal motivated Canada in a bid to level the game and subsquently to win the enounter.

Composed Canadian side  returned in the second pressing Lions in their half but their strikers failed to score for equalizer.

Canada exit from Qatar World Cup 2022 with a worst record of failure to register a point in the competition.

Hakim Ziyech and Yousef En-Nesyri scored for the winners in the 4th and 23rd minutes respectively to give the lions a comand lead.

The Lions of Atlas join Senegal’s Lions of Teranga in the knockout stage of the World’s most prestigious soccer tournament.
