MOI staff urged to uphold integrity, professionalism
DODOMA: STAFF at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) have been urged to uphold integrity, professionalism and courteous communication to enhance service delivery and achieve institutional goals.
Speaking at the opening of the Second Meeting of MOI’s Sixth Workers’ Council, held recently in Dodoma, the Chairperson of the Institute’s Board of Trustees, Dr Marina Njelekela acknowledged the Institute’s overall progress but stressed the need for further improvement in these areas to achieve greater success.
“While MOI is progressing well, to reach the next level, employees must demonstrate higher integrity and communicate more courteously with clients,” Dr Njelekela stressed.
She further said that staff should treat patients, whom she referred to as “bosses” with the utmost respect.
Dr Njelekela said that polite and courteous service not only attracts more clients but also increases revenue, which, in turn, supports the payment of salaries.

The Executive Director of MOI and Secretary of the Workers’ Council, Dr Mpoki Ulisubisya, echoed Dr Njelekela’s message, saying that staff are encouraged to support one another in maintaining integrity, respectful communication and ethical conduct in the workplace.
Regarding the medical equipment supplied by the government to improve health services at the Institute, Dr Mpoki assured that staff would continue to be reminded of the importance of proper usage to extend the lifespan of these resources.
The Council meeting also included a review of resolutions from the March meeting, focusing on how the allocated budget has been utilised to implement various interventions and set new goals for the Institute’s development.
In her remarks, ViceChairperson of the Tanzania Union of Government and Health Employees (TUGHE), Dr Jane Madete commended the Institute for the strong cooperation between management and staff, which she credited as a key factor in MOI’s success in service delivery.
Chairperson of TUGHE’s MOI branch, Privatus Masula said that the meeting would not only address the budget but also discuss challenges faced by staff in performing their duties.
