Modern sugar factory investment drives higher local production

MOROGORO:  KILOMBERO Sugar Company Limited (KSCL) says its strategic investment in the K4 Factory has significantly expanded domestic sugar production, improved the availability of locally produced sugar and strengthened Tanzania’s efforts to achieve sugar self-sufficiency while reducing reliance on imports.

Speaking at the ongoing National Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibition in Morogoro, Kilombero Sugar Commercial and Supply Chain Director, Fimbo Butallah, said the commissioning of the K4 Factory marks a major milestone in the Company’s growth, demonstrating its commitment to expanding local production through modern technology and operational excellence to meet Tanzania’s growing demand for sugar.

“This investment demonstrates our unwavering commitment to expanding local production through modern technology and operational excellence to meet the growing demand for sugar in Tanzania. Equally important, it has created greater opportunities for sugarcane outgrowers by increasing demand for cane, stimulating economic activity and improving livelihoods within the communities surrounding our operations,” said  Butallah.

Butallah said Kilombero Sugar continues to make strategic investments that improve operational efficiency, strengthen production capacity and create lasting value across Tanzania’s sugar industry, agricultural sector and the national economy.

He said the Company is also using this year’s exhibition to showcase its flagship Bwana Sukari brand, giving farmers, consumers and other stakeholders an opportunity to experience the product firsthand and learn more about its quality, reliability and the wide range of pack sizes available for both household and commercial use.

According to Butallah, the exhibition offers an important platform for engaging directly with farmers, customers and industry stakeholders, exchanging ideas and demonstrating Kilombero Sugar’s continued commitment to advancing Tanzania’s agricultural transformation.

“The success of Kilombero Sugar is intrinsically linked to the success of our farmers. Our presence at Nane Nane goes beyond showcasing our products; it is an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, listen to our stakeholders, and demonstrate the role we continue to play in driving agricultural development, empowering farming communities, and contributing to Tanzania’s economic growth,” he added.
