SIMBA investor Mohamed Dewji has insisted that time is here for them to be among the top-five strongest clubs in Africa by defeating tough opponents of the Wydad Casablanca caliber.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Dar es Salaam recently, he said for them to achieve that feat, they have no other options other than getting the better of strong teams which are hard to beat and this is the right moment for them.
“To venture into the top five, there is no shortcut but rather to overpower teams like Wydad Casablanca, Mamelodi Sundowns, Esperance and other big clubs…what we have to do as management is to create a conducive environment for our players to prosper.
“We need to give them (players) top class environment in order to psychologically build them so that they can be prepared to face any side which comes their way,” he said.
Moreover, he stressed that maximum support from many Simba fans is needed (today) for them to achieve their target of suffocating the Moroccan based outfits saying the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium should be packed to brim.
“Personally, I am not going to be satisfied seeing three or four empty seats at the stadium. People should arrive in big number because we are going to write history.
“People should come with trumpets so that the visitors should know that we are fully ready for them by simply making the entire scene unfriendly just like the way they do when playing at their territory,” he said.
He continued: “We need to learn from England football fans who always cheer their team whether winning or losing the progressing encounter. Let me inject confidence to players and our fans to descend at the venue in big number.
“I have strong belief that this time, we are better placed to record the most important win on the continent because our players are psychologically and physically in great spirit,” he said.
The two teams are battling for a space into the semifinals of the biggest club football contest on the continent.
