Minister unveils ‘Sema na Waziri’ to hear citizens’ concerns

DODOMA: Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Dr Juma Homera, has launched the ‘Sema na Waziri’ (Speak to the Minister) programme in Dodoma, dedicating two to three days each month to attend to wananchi’s concerns through the initiative.

So far, the Minister said, a total of 2,023 cases—mainly related to land, gender-based violence and childcare—have been received.

Explaining the rationale behind the programme, Dr Homera said it aims to address citizens’ grievances without requiring them to travel long distances to Dodoma to seek assistance.

“Through this programme, I will speak directly with wananchi and link them to State Attorneys for follow-up on their cases,” he said.

He added that the call centre will operate 24 hours as demand increases, assuring that the service will be sustainable in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to improving public service delivery.

Earlier, Deputy Minister Ms Zainabu Katimba said the programme was introduced following directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure that citizens’ challenges are addressed through various platforms, including digital channels.

She noted that several cases, particularly land-related disputes, have already been resolved through the Ministry’s call centre.

Wananchi with legal concerns have been urged to contact the Ministry through the toll-free number 0800 004 004, regular line 0626 160 360, or WhatsApp number 0739 101 910.
