Minister inaugurates new Mzinga board

DODOMA: MINISTER for Defence and National Service, Stergomena Tax officially launched the new Board of Directors for the Mzinga Corporation on Wednesday as she paid tribute to the corporation for properly discharging its duties.
The board will be led by recently appointed Lieutenant General (Rtd) Ambassador Charles Makakala.
He was appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan. While inaugurating the 18th board of the corporation, Dr Tax congratulated the newly appointed members for their leadership roles, emphasising President Samia’s confidence in their ability to advance the organisation’s objectives, which were set forth at its inception in September 1974.

Dr Tax highlighted the significant progress the corporation has made in recent years, noting that production of essential crops has increased and that Mzinga has been involved in several impactful national projects.
“Among these projects are the rehabilitation of the corporation’s infrastructure, staff housing and investment at the Mzinga Hospital, which has recently been elevated to a Regional Referral Hospital as of August 2, 2025,” said Dr Tax.
She expressed her sincere appreciation to the outgoing board members for their dedication, creativity and hard work that resulted in these accomplishments.
Furthermore, the minister urged the new board to collaborate with management in sustaining the achievements, while also emphasising the need for increased efforts to further enhance productivity and performance.
“We must intensify our investment in our hospital, which serves not only the people of Mzinga but also the Morogoro region and the nation, to meet current and future demands,” she directed.

Dr Tax further stressed the importance of executing the board’s tasks efficiently and on time, as success would bring honour to the organisation. He called for robust strategies to ensure effective and timely implementation.
The inauguration event of the new Board of Directors for Mzinga Corporation was attended by various guests from the Ministry of Defence and National Service, leaders from the Mzinga branch of the TUGHE Workers’ Union, representatives from the headquarters of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces, as well as innovators and designers from the corporation.
