Minister Aweso orders completion of 143bn/- Tabora water project

TABORA: THE Minister for Water, Jumaa Aweso, has firmly directed that water must begin flowing to these communities by October 2025 under the nationwide 28 Towns Water Supply Project.

The government is investing 143bn/- in a transformative water supply project across Urambo, Kaliua, and Sikonge districts, aiming to serve more than 490,000 residents.

During his working tour in Urambo District to inspect ongoing works, Minister Aweso stressed the urgency of timely completion, calling on the contractors to adhere strictly to the schedule so citizens can start accessing clean and reliable water as planned.

While in Kalemela B village, the Minister inaugurated the installation of a 300-millimeter main pipeline and inspected key infrastructure, including a 2,000,000-liter tank under construction in Kalemela B and a 1,000,000-liter tank at the Mission site in Sikonge. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work.

Launched on April 11, 2023, the massive project includes over 190 kilometers of main pipeline, the construction of five large water tanks with a combined storage capacity of 8,000,000 liters, and more than 100 kilometers of distribution pipelines.

Minister Aweso affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Tanzanian has access to clean water, calling the project a “lifeline” for the people of Tabora Region.
