Minerals ministry’s staff urged to work with integrity, professionalism

EMPLOYEES of the Minerals Ministry and its institutions have been encouraged to work with integrity and professionalism while embracing patriotism.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Msafiri Mbibo, made the statement when he met and spoke with the Mirerani resident mining officers and staff of the Tanzania Gemological Centre (TGC) in Arusha region.

Mbibo argued that the employees should have skills so that they can meet standards of the minerals production.

“We have been given a very big responsibility to manage mineral resources which are probably more valuable than other resources. Through these resources we should improve the lives of Tanzanians and develop the economy of our nation by ensuring that we treat Tanzanians fairly and equally,” he said.

He promised that the government would work on addressing a challenge of power at the Mirerani mine. I am taking it and promising to work on it. Reports show that the production of Tanzanite has dropped slightly. One of the factors is the electricity challenge at the mine.

“Despite several challenges, I also call upon employees working in the mining offices to improve performance. The ministry continues to improve welfare of the employees,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mbibo visited the TGC which provides training at various levels of minerals value chain.

He got to familiarise with how the centre carries out the training.

Speaking to employees of the centre, he asked them to increase the sales generated by the products manufactured by the centre.

“Let’s make a short-term strategy to improve sales, try to be more creative, including improving our products. We are working hard to bring changes and to improve access to education in this college,” he stated.
