SIMBA’S Juma Mgunda has hailed the charges for the classy performance in their brilliant 3-1 away victory in their Premier League match against Polisi Tanzania at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi yesterday.
The convincing victory was a consolation to Simba fans after their team was held to a 1-1 draw by Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya a week ago.
Moses Phiri and John Bocco were instrumental in the Simba’s brilliant victory in Moshi on Sunday.
Moses Phiri’s brace and a goal from John Bocco were enough to secure Simba’s 3-1 victory over Polisi Tanzania while the hosts scored their consolation goal through Zuberi Mbogo.
Following the victory, Simba’s Head Coach Juma Mgunda commended his players for delivering a classy performance to secure the away win.
He further remarked that his side won due to the quality of the players in the squad.
The victory has earned Simba 31 points from 14-game outings.
Simba have now won nine games, drawn four while losing 1-0 to Azam.
Their opponents; Polisi Tanzania have fallen to 14th place with nine points from fourteen games.
Apart from the team’s achievement, on Sunday’s victory has brightened Phiri’s marksmanship now parading eight goals while Bocco scored his fourth goal in just 180 minutes while Clatous Chama starred goal assist with five of them.
The game was good and highly entertaining as both sides were serious in a hunt for maximum points.
It was hosts Polisi Tanzania who made the first attempt to break the deadlock in the 17th minute through a free-kick from Rajab Athumani following a foul committed by Sadio Kanuote to Iddi Kipagwile out of the penalty box.
Athumani’s free-kick did not pose a danger to Simba, as it went wide.
In the 32nd minute, Simba’s skipper, Bocco, scored an opener, completing Shomari Kapombe’s assist after an excellent exchange of passes between Mzamiru Yassin, Clatous Chama and Kapombe.
The goal motivated Simba to look for more goals while Polisi Tanzania fought for an equaliser.
But it was Simba who benefited later in the 43rd minute through Phiri who doubled the lead, scoring from Clatous Chama’s well-calculated pass.
Simba’s second goal enthralled spectators after Chama wonderfully sidestepped Polisi Tanzania defender Blanchard Ngabozinza, slipping to the ground before he passed it to Phiri who scored.
The first half completed with Simba leading 2-0.
Simba returned strongly in the second half and lodged their third goal through Phiri again in the 52nd minute. He scored after completing a good pass from Chama.
Despite Simba’s good work, they failed to leave Ushirika Stadium with a clean sheet after Zuberi Mbogo of Polisi Tanzania scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes.
