Mgunda is here to stay, insist Simba
SIMBA have highlighted that the final decision of whether they deserve a new Head Coach will be decided by the team’s Board of Directors, but insisted current coach, Juma Mgunda still fits in as the team’s main trainer.
The Msimbazi Street Reds face Mbeya City in their 13th NBC Premier League match at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya tomorrow, eyeing to maintain their perfect form in picking the maximum points as the campaign towards the league diadem escalates.
After taking on Mbeya City, they will travel to Moshi for their next away fixture against Polisi Tanzania at Ushirika Stadium hence they have possible six points at stake.
However, speaking yesterday in the city, the team’s Media and Communication Manager Ahmed Ally reiterated that the decision to find a new coach is going to be made by the Board of Directors.
“Whether Mgunda stays as the main coach or not will be sorted out by the Board of Directors but for now, he is still the leading coach and he will be available when we play Mbeya City on Wednesday (tomorrow).
“So far, we have made improvements at the technical bench by bringing on board a new fitness coach and goalkeeping trainer who have already started service at the club,” he said.
He also said soon, they are going to announce a new Assistant Coach to replace Selemani Matola who is on study leave to pursue CAF Diploma A coaching licence in Zanzibar.
“I am just waiting for the official communication from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barbara Gonzalez before briefing the public about his successor,” Ally said.
In his remarks before travelling, Matola disclosed that he still has a contract at the club and that all the training expenses have been billed by Simba while insisting that getting the Diploma A coaching licence will add value to his coaching career.
He also elaborated that he has gained many things from different coaches whom he worked together with at the club which will help him to do well in his studies since coaches differ in their football philosophy.
His last match before heading for the training was a 4-0 triumph over Ruvu Shooting at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam which guided them to 27 points in 12 games while scoring 24 goals, the highest number so far.
