SIMBA’S interim coach Juma Mgunda said he is impressed with his charges ‘win-hungry’ spirit whereas Geita Gold coach Felix Minziro complained about lack of game discipline in his squad for hefty 5-0 loss.
The Msimbazi Street Reds handed Geita Gold a 5-0 blitz in a one-sided match at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza over the weekend to launch their Lake Zone mission on front pedal.
Senegalese import Pape Sakho netted a brace whereas Clatous Chama, skipper John Bocco and Kibu Denis provided a goal each for the massive victory which drove them to the second place with 37 points after 16-match onslaught.
Tomorrow, Simba face Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera for their second Lake Zone league encounter before meeting KMC at CCM Kirumba venue on December 26th this year.
“Of course, it was a competitive match as you saw, we faced a good team coached by a good coach but we are proud to have emerged winners and our focus now is on the next assignment,” Mgunda said.
He then attributed the giant victory to a ‘win-hungry’ spirit that his players have in any game they engage saying they all play as a unit and that is the most important tool in football.
“I cannot specifically point out where our energy to succeed come from because it is a product of team-work and not an individual brilliance… I know there are some mistakes which surfaced during the game and they will be addressed at the training pitch,” he said.
On his part, Minziro revealed that they played below par and that his players lacked game discipline both he said contributed much to the heavy loss in the just ended 16th round of the league.
He, however assured Geita Gold family that in their next encounter against Azam, they will shift to the top gear in order to produce good results and get back to the winning ways.
It was Geita Gold’s fourth loss of the campaign as they sit on seventh place with 22 points from 16 matches and have conceded 21 goals in the process.
