Media Council envisions technological innovation at the 16th EJAT gala

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Executive Secretary of the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) Ernest Sungura, has announced that the 16th Edition of the Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) will be held on May 29 in Dar es Salaam, featuring improvements and new additions.

He said that for the first time, the awards will not only recognize individual journalists but will also include institutions and media houses, a move aimed at broadening competition and enhancing the quality of journalism.

Sungura told The Daily News that preparations are progressing well, with MCT continuing to make improvements to ensure the awards keep pace with changes in science, technology, and the needs of the media industry.

This year, EJAT will place emphasis on professional and analytical journalism, covering areas such as tax and revenue collection, as well as reproductive health and gender issues. The 15th edition of EJAT was held in September 2024.
