Mbeya, Singida host titanic battle

TWO arenas; Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya and Liti Stadium in Singida are beehive of Premier League actions as Mbeya City entertain Simba while Singida Big Stars host KMC in major fixtures today.

The chase for maximum points continues to escalate as both teams are looking serious to stamp victory and continue to scaling the league ladders and avoid the relegation wrath.

After a convincing 4-0 win over Ruvu Shooting in the recent, Simba are eager to mainatain their winning spree and they have openly declared they want to seize 12 points in their four-game away matches.

Eyes of the football fraternity are likely to be glued to skipper John Bocco who aims to score the second hat-trick of the campaign after netting one against Ruvu Shooting in their recent game.

On the other hand, for Mbeya City, Sixtus Sabilo has netted seven goals and he is searching to extend his goal tally thus making the match quite interesting.

At a pre-match briefing on Tuesday, Simba caretaker coach Juma Mgunda said they are well prepared for the game saying it is going to be tough as the hosts have a good squad with talented players.

“I always say this season’s league is very difficult because each team engages in ample preparations to do better at the end of the match.

As such; are facing a good side with determination to win but, we are equally ready for the showdown,” Mgunda said.

He added that every player in his team is aware of the importance of the game while insisting that picking three points is their primary target.

“In each game, the performance differs in accordance with the nature of the opponent but what I can assure our fans is that we are well focused for the game and they should join us in big numbers,” he said.

At Liti Stadium, hosts Singida Big Stars eye to recover from a heavy 4-1 loss to Young Africans in their previous league game as they are set to answer questions imposed by KMC.

The Kinondoni-based side also succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Dodoma Jiji in their previous game at Uhuru Stadium in the city, hence they will play like wounded bulls for the essential victory that will keep them moving in the marathon.

It was their fourth downfall of the campaign and they have collected 14 points from 12- game onslaught while Singida Big Stars have collected 18 points from 11 fixtures.
