Mashujaa edge Coastal Union, go second

DAR ES SALAAM: IN a gripping encounter at the Kinondoni Municipal Council Complex stadium in Dar es Salaam, Mashujaa Football Club secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Coastal Union, propelling them into second place in the Premier League standings.

From the kickoff, Mashujaa displayed their intent and it was not long before Chrispin Ngushi made the breakthrough.

His 14th-minute strike, born from a crucial Tanga’s Coastal Union defensive blunder, set the tone for the match.

The Kigoma-based side dominated the first half with a commanding midfield performance.

Their tactical acumen disoriented Coastal Union’s midfielders, leaving them struggling to find their rhythm.

Mashujaa’s control was evident, as they expertly managed the game and kept their opponents at bay.

The second half saw Coastal Union emerge with renewed energy, pressing higher up the pitch, attempting to exploit the flanks, aiming to equalise.

Despite their efforts and several close calls, they could not break through Mashujaa’s resolute defence.

The visitors held firm, securing all three points.

As a result, Coastal Union now find themselves languishing in 13th place with a solitary point from their opening fixtures.

In stark contrast, Mashujaa ascend to second place, boasting seven points from two wins and a draw.
