Market your services, Nape tells TPC

MINISTER for Information, Communication and Information Technology Mr Nape Nnauye has directed the Tanzania Postal Corporation (TPC) to be innovative in marketing its services to the public.

Minister Nape issued the directives during the launch of Posta Insurance Broker in Arusha on Friday.

“The establishment of this service is one thing, but reaching the targeted population is the main thing, therefore I direct you…. in order to attain your objectives you need to direct more efforts in marketing your business in the media,” he said.

He said it was important for the corporation to reach the targeted people through various ways including meetings and seminars for the objective of educating them on importance of insurance, especially to rural farmers.

Nape added: “There are other postal services which can  be known more to the public through new customers who will visit postal offices for insurance service… when a customer comes to the office he will find more other services which will also attract him.”

Minister Nape commended TPC for being innovative and coming up with insurance services which he said is an indication of support to the sixth- phase government efforts under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The minister said currently the government encourages the creation of systems to enable the public to have easy access to services provided by various service providers.

For his part, Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) Commissioner, Dr Baghayo Saqware, said that the launch of the Post Insurance Broker is a symbol of the implementation of the government’s plans to develop the financial sector by bringing closer the insurance services to the citizens.

“The launch of this insurance agency service today (yesterday) is a sign and part of the implementation plans of the sixth- phase government led by Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan under the National Development Plan to develop the financial sector by delivering insurance services to citizens,” Dr Saqware emphasised.

In particular, he said TIRA will ensure that it cooperates with TPC so that the launched service reaches many Tanzanians, particularly those in rural areas.

In a related development, Dr Saqware implored the communication docket to help persuade Media houses to collaborate with insurance stakeholders and the related companies to raise awareness on insurance matters at low cost.
