The stage is set for the 3rd edition of Marafiki Music Festival 2022 scheduled to begin on October 6th to 8th at Makumbusho Village Museum in Dar es Salaam.
Again, on October 9th, it will be the turn of Bagamoyo residents who will have a chance to sample out genuine taste of genres from different artistes lined up for the annual event at Firefly and in both places, the show expect to begin from 6:30pm to 12:30am.
Briefing members of media yesterday in the city, Marafiki Festival Artistic Director Isack Abeneko said preparations for the big music showdown are unfolding well while urging people to spare time and attend it.
“This is an annual event which happens in October in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo where international artistes are brought under one umbrella to share their music passion.
“Also, the festival brings together different arts
stakeholders and experts to share their experience and knowledge with artistes in order to cement their capacity of various disciplines in this sector,” said him.
He also pointed out that this year’s edition is part of SANAAPRO Project which is funded by the Embassy of France in Tanzania.
“Through this support, Marafiki Festival has managed to feature different artistes and
musicians who are coming from different countries to perform and share skills with domestic musicians,” he said.
Additionally, Abeneko revealed that aside the festival, workshop has also been organised to enable participants debate on various subjects including Music Business and how to make Afro-fusion music relevant and consumable in Africa and Europe.
“We believe that music training workshops are an important element to all artistes, music curators, event organisers and managers to learn and develop their careers,” he said.
