Mapinduzi Cup: A day for Simba, Singida

ZANZIBAR: SIMBA and Singida Fountain Gate coaches have predicted a tough Mapinduzi Cup semi-final match as they meet at New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar today.

The duo interfaced for the second time in the tournament with the first clash ending 2 – 0 in favour of Simba.

“We are well prepared for the game. We aim to maintain the quality the same as we met with Singida Fountain Gate in the group stage,” he explained.

However, Matola predicted that it is not going to be an easy game as Singida are likely going to look for an act of revenge by hook or crook and will fight hard to get good results and progress to their second consecutive finals.

On his part, Singida Fountain Gate Assistant Coach Nizar Khalfan said his side is also well prepared for the encounter and that they will play their lungs out as they cannot afford to lose twice against their opponents.

“We are aware that the match will be tough but I am sure that my players will do a recommendable job so that in the end, we get positive results and make it to the finals.

“They know us very well that we are not an easy side to beat, we are hopeful to produce a convincing result and win the game because we have a good team and every player is eagerly waiting for the game,” he said.

To reach this far, Singida outclassed Azam FC 2-1 in a thrilling quarter-final match while Simba recorded a slim 1-0 victory over Jamhuri FC.

Mapinduzi Cup finals will be staged on Saturday, January 13 whereby the winner will take home 100m/- and the first runner-up will earn 70m/- to mark the end of the 60 years of Zanzibar Revolution anniversary.
