Malawian envoy commends Tanzanian friendliness and exceptional hospitality

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ngwaru Maghembe, has officially bid farewell to Malawian envoy, Andrew Kumwenda, whose diplomatic duty in Tanzania has ended.

The meeting took place at the Ministry’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam, following Kumwenda’s courtesy visit to formally express his departure after completing his tenure.

During their discussions, the two leaders emphasized the importance of sustaining and strengthening diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Malawi. They underscored the need for continued collaboration in addressing shared challenges, particularly in cross-border trade, transport, investment, and agriculture—key sectors driving regional economic growth.

Dr Maghembe commended High Commissioner Kumwenda for his exemplary service and successful completion of his assignment. He noted that Kumwenda’s contributions significantly enhanced diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

For his part, Mr  Kumwenda praised Tanzania’s recent progress in industrial development, highlighting that such advancements have generated positive spillover effects not only for Tanzania but also for neighboring countries, including Malawi. He also expressed appreciation to the Government of Tanzania for the cooperation extended to him throughout his tenure.

In his concluding remarks, the outgoing High Commissioner shared his personal sentiments, describing Tanzania as a second home and commending Tanzanians for their friendliness and exceptional hospitality.
