Major shakeup for regional, district leaders
DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a major reshuffle and new appointments of regional and district leaders across the country in a bid to enhance efficiency in public service and strengthen regional administration.
The changes, which also touch ministerial and public entities, include the appointment of Engineer Machibya Masanja as the new Director General of the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC), marking a strategic move in improving the country’s transport infrastructure.
According to a statement released by the Chief Secretary, Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, the President has transferred Kenan Kihongosi from Simiyu to serve as the Regional Commissioner for Arusha, while Anamringi Macha moves from Shinyanga to take over as the Regional Commissioner for Simiyu.
New Regional Commissioners have been appointed, including Ambassador Simon Sirro for Kigoma, Kheri James for Iringa, Mboni Mhita for Shinyanga, Beno Malisa for Mbeya and Jabiri Makame for Songwe.
Agnes Meena has been appointed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries.
In ministerial transfers, Dr Hussein Omar moves from the Ministry of Agriculture to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as Deputy Permanent Secretary.
Two new Deputy Permanent Secretaries have been appointed– Professor Peter Msoffe for environmental affairs under the Vice-President’s Office and Engineer Athumani Kilundumya for crop development and food security in the Ministry of Agriculture.
In the regional administration, Rashid Mchata has been moved from Coast Region to Tanga as Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), while Pili Mnyema moves from Tanga to Coast in the same capacity.
New appointments include Abdul Mhinte as RAS for Dar es Salaam and Dr Frank Hawasi for Songwe.
District Commissioner transfers include Solomon Itunda from Songwe to Mbeya, Japhari Mghamba from Handeni to Gairo and Amir Mkalipa from Arumeru to Ilemela.
Newly appointed District Commissioners include Estomin Kyando for Kilolo, Ayubu Sebabile (Muheza), Thecla Mkuchika (Butiama), Angelina Lubela (Serengeti), Maulid Dotto (Mvomero), Rukia Zuberi (Mwanga), Mwinyi Mwinyi (Arumeru) and Jubilete Lauwo (Magu).
The list also has Mikaya Dalmia for Kigamboni, Thomas Myinga (Sikonge), Gloriana Kimath (Monduli), Upendo Wella (Tabora), Denis Masanja (Tunduru), Fadhil Nkurlu (Songwe), Benjamin Sitta (Iringa), Salum Nyamwese (Handeni) and Frank Mkinda for Kahama.
In district administrative roles, Mwanamwaya Kombo has been appointed District Administrative Secretary (DAS) for Mkinga, Kassim Kirondomara (Biharamulo), Thobias Abwaro (Babati), Asycritus Egaruk (Meatu), Nyakaji Mashauri (Kilolo), Mustapha Kimomwe (Rufiji), Milama Masiko (Serengeti) and Mpampalika Mpampalika for Mwanga.
Others Richard Mwalingo for Mtwara, Zuberi (Magu), Angela Mono (Tanga), Mamndolwa Gembe (Same), Sabina Mwajeka (Momba), Sosthenes Chakupanyuka (Kaliua) and Adestino Mwilinge for Mbogwe.
Two District Executive Directors (DEDs) have been transferred –Justice Kijazi from Iringa Municipality to Mbeya City Council and Zaina Mlawa from Bahi District Council to Iringa.
New DEDs include Raymond Mweli for Mbarali, Adelina Mfikwa (Bukombe), Iddi Ndabona (Bariadi Town Council), Hamisi Idd (Busega), Mwarami Seif (Nzega), Newaho Mkisi (Meatu) and Zainab Mgomi (Nanyamba Town Council).
Others are Dr John Pima for Tabora Municipality, Albina Mtumbuka (Bahi), Paulo Faty (Mvomero), Shabani Kabelwa (Kaliua) and Vicent Mbua for Ukerewe.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Regional Commissioners, Permanent Secretary, Regional Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries will be held on a date to be announced later, according to the statement.
