DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa is today expected to officiate the Tanzania Local Government Reforms Association General Meeting, kicking off today in Dodoma.
The three-day meeting will bring together over 800 delegates and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, aiming to promote transformative development through the strengthening of local government systems.
Speaking in Dodoma over the weekend, the association Chairperson Mr Albert Msovela said the meeting will feature a series of presentations and discussions designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of local government authorities across the country.
This year’s theme is “Fiscal Decentralisation as a Catalyst for Socio-Economic Development in Local Government Authorities.”

Mr Msovela, who also serves as the Katavi Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), said that the theme reflects the notable progress achieved under the sixthphase government, particularly in increasing the financial capacity of local authorities to address grassroots challenges.
“This meeting provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s dedication and leadership in advancing local development. We are grateful for her support and wish her continued good health,” he said.
He further noted that the gathering will also include the election of new leaders who will guide the association over the next three years.
The association comprises Regional Administrative Secretaries and Directors of Local Government Authorities from Mainland Tanzania, as well as other institutional members.
