DAR ES SALAAM: Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa is expected to lead Maendeleo Bank Charity Marathon 2024 set to take place on September 7, 2024.
The event aimed at raising funds for vital children’s centers at KCMC Hospital in Kilimanjaro and the Dikonia Orphanage center in Bagamoyo, Coast region.
These centers focus on providing care for premature infants and orphans, addressing critical needs for some of the most vulnerable in society.
Acting Director of Development Bank, Peter Tarimo, said the event themed: ‘A Step of Comfort’ will take place the Farasi Grounds in Dar es Salaam, aims to highlight and tackle the pressing issue of inadequate resources in pediatric care.
” At KCMC Hospital, over 500 children are born annually, but the resources fall short, resulting in tragic losses,” he said.

He also added that “data shows that 25 per cent to 30 per cent of these children, 150 out of 500, die because of insufficient medical supplies.”
During the launch of the event the Chairman of the Maendeleo Bank Board, Prof. Ulingeta Mbamba, emphasized the urgency of the cause.
He also said Prime Minister Majaliwa’s participation underscores the government’s commitment to improving child healthcare and supporting orphaned children.
He added that the initiative not only seeks to provide immediate aid but also aims to foster long-term improvements in the healthcare system for children across the country.
