DAR ES SALAAM ; PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has assured the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Dr Doto Biteko of his support in coordinating and execution of government activities.
The Premier made the remark on Saturday when he welcomed his Deputy at his office in Magogoni Dar es Salaam.
During the welcoming event, the Premier assured Dr Biteko that the strong team of the PM office will accord him cooperation in execution of his duties.
In particular, Mr Majaliwa commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for strengthening the Office of the Prime Minister by appointing the Deputy Prime Minister, adding that the move will improve efficiency in coordi- nation of government activities.
“The Deputy Prime Minister, we welcome you here in our office and we congratulate you for being trusted by President Samia and given this great responsibility to coordinate government activities … I assure you that you have a strong team,” the PM said.
For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister Dr Biteko applauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan for trusting him and appointing him to the post.
Dr Biteko pledged to cooperate with the Prime Minister’s Office (VPO) while calling the VPO staff to work hard to ensure the vision of President Samia and Tanzanians are attained.
The reception event was attended by various leaders in PMO, including the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination), Jenista Mhagama and the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability), Prof Joyce Ndalichako.
Others were Deputy Minister for Policy, Parliament and Coordination, Ms Ummy Nderiananga, the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament and Coordination Dr Jim Yonazi and Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability, Engineer Cyprian Luhemeja.
Recently President Samia made a minor cabinet reshuffle, including establishment of the new post of Deputy Prime Minister whereby the Head of State appointed Dr Biteko to take the position.
According to a statement issued by the State House, under the new post of deputy premier, Dr Biteko will deal with coordination of the government’s activities.
