Local Government Election: It’s tomorrow! Come one, come all

DAR ES SALAAM: The Chief Government Spokesperson and Director of the Information Services Department (MAELEZO), Mr. Thobias Makoba, has called on citizens to turn out in large numbers for the local government elections scheduled for tomorrow.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, Mr. Makoba urged registered voters to actively participate in the polls, emphasizing that voting is a vital step toward improving local communities.

“I urge all Tanzanians to show up tomorrow and cast their votes as registered. Your vote is the key to bringing development to the areas we live in,” he stated.

While briefing journalists on various national issues, including the Kariakoo building collapse in Dar es Salaam, Mr. Makoba underscored the importance of the polls as a cornerstone for community development.

He reminded journalists to uphold professional standards and adhere to established guidelines while covering the elections.

“Journalists are a vital part of our country’s development. As you fulfill your duties tomorrow, I urge you to follow all regulations and maintain professionalism in your reporting,” he noted.

Mr. Makoba further assured that the Department of Information (MAELEZO) had received directives from the government to ensure journalists have access to polling stations and are supported in performing their duties.

Campaigns for the local government elections, which began on November 21, 2024, will officially conclude today.
