Duni: Citizens’ power should be manifested at the ballot box

DAR ES SALAAM: Former ACT-Wazalendo Chairman Juma Duni Haji has urged members of the party and the public to turn out in large numbers to vote for the party’s flag bearers.

He warned that failing to do so could lead to another five years of struggles and challenges for their communities.

According to the veteran politician, the ballot box is a powerful tool for citizens to express themselves by rejecting unfit leaders and choosing those who can foster development.

“For you, local government is your closest connection to the central government. The local leaders you elect are individuals you know and can reach out to at any time. They are your bridge to solving community problems,” Duni, popularly known as Babu Duni, stated while campaigning for ACT-Wazalendo candidates at Mwinyimkuu and Idrisa streets during a rally at Mwinyimkuu, Mzimuni Ward.

In another campaign, Idrisa Kwaweta, ACT-Wazalendo’s Chief Secretary for the Shadow Cabinet, called on supporters in Kilwa North constituency to seize the opportunity to vote for their candidates. He emphasized that their choice of leaders is key to resolving local challenges.

“The entire Kilwa North constituency consists of 34 villages. We nominated candidates for nearly all of them, but most were disqualified, leaving only nine villages, including Madiga. Let us use this opportunity to send a strong message by electing a capable young leader who will address our concerns,” Kwaweta said.

He further highlighted the promises of the ACT-Wazalendo candidate as outlined in the party’s manifesto, which include building roads, providing access to clean water and electricity, and constructing more classrooms to improve education in the area.

While acknowledging the scale of these challenges, Kwaweta reassured supporters that his position at the national level would enable him to provide critical support in fulfilling the commitments of their candidates.

“I pledge to use my influence and resources to guide the candidate through every step, ensuring that Madiga rises from its current state of underdevelopment and achieves the same progress as other villages,” he vowed.

Kwaweta concluded by urging voters to recognize the importance of their decision at the polls, stating that electing ACT-Wazalendo leaders is a crucial step toward creating tangible change in their communities.
