Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa has congratulated Producers of a local film ‘Tug of War’ for winning a Top Prize in the Golden Tanit Awards.
The film directed by Amil Shivji won the prize during the 2022 Tunisia’s Carthage Film Festival held on Saturday.
The winning film Vuta N’Kuvute for Kiswahili is about love and politics in the final years of British colonial Zanzibar.
Writing on his official Instagram account, the Tanzanian filmmaker Amil Shivji thanked the Carthage Film Festival for the prize and the people of Tunisia in general for their warm welcome while in their country.
“Shukran, Yaishek, Yaishek! @jcctunisieofficial , the jury and people of Tunis for such a wonderful reception and awarding Vuta N’Kuvute (Tug of War) winning three prizes at the 33rd Carthage film festival,” he wrote
The talented producer released the Vuta N’Kuvute film in 2021 which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
