LNG, Mahenge Graphite, Kabanga Nickel lure US investors to Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: LIQUEFIED Natural Gas (LNG) project, the Kabanga Nickel project, and the Mahenge Graphite project peaked the meeting between the Tanzanian government and the United States of America, today, December 31, 2025, in Dar es Salaam.
The two-nation meeting aims to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation between Tanzania and the United States, which includes three projects that the U.S. Government has expressed interest in investing in.
THE Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Dr Samwel Shelukindo, met and held talks with the Acting Ambassador of the United States to Tanzania, Andrew Lentz, aimed at following up on the implementation of issues agreed upon during a meeting between President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Acting Ambassador.
During the discussions, both sides deliberated on various issues to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation between Tanzania and the United States, including projects in which the U.S. Government has expressed interest in investing. Among the projects discussed were the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, the Kabanga Nickel project, and the Mahenge Graphite project.

The talks also addressed the implementation of the Commercial Dialogue between Tanzania and the United States, as well as strategies to enhance people-to-people relations and address immigration-related issues.
In addition, the two sides discussed cooperation in the health sector, along with opportunities for Tanzanian athletes to participate in various competitions to be held in the United States, particularly marathon races.
The discussions demonstrated the commitment of both parties to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation for the mutual benefit of the people of Tanzania and the United States.
