MOSHI, KILIMANJARO: THE government has emphasised that the ongoing Mama Samia Legal Aid Campaign is crucial in achieving the objectives of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s 4Rs philosophy—Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms and Rebuilding—by resolving conflicts among citizens and ensuring justice for all.
Minister for Constitution and Legal Af fairs, Dr Damas Ndumbaro, stated that the campaign plays a vital role in maintaining peace, which has earned Tanzania its global reputation as a Haven of Peace.
He made these remarks yesterday during the launch of the campaign in the Kilimanjaro Region, held in Moshi Municipality.
Dr Ndumbaro said that the 4Rs philosophy has brought significant positive changes.
to the country, ensuring peace and stability. He noted that the legal aid campaign is a direct outcome of that philosophy, offering relief to many Tanzanians, especially those who cannot afford legal representation to resolve their legal challenges.
He explained that the campaign stems from President Samia’s vision to ad dress the public’s demand for justice, adding that the overwhelming turnout at legal aid events across the country is proof of citizens’ commitment to providing legal aid.
The minister further stated that the sixth-phase government recognised that many Tanzanians were struggling to access justice, and, through her wisdom, President Samia initiated the campaign to ensure that legal aid reaches those in need, especially the financially disadvantaged.

Dr Ndumbaro com mended citizens for seeking justice through legal channels rather than illegal protests, as seen in other parts of the world.
The minister emphasised that Kilimanjaro is the 17th region to benefit from the campaign, following the success witnessed in 16 other regions.
Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner, Mr Nurdin Babu, described the campaign as a timely and much needed initiative, given the high demand for justice among residents who cannot afford legal services.
He assured that the regional authorities would provide full cooperation to ensure that the campaign reaches all administrative levels, including villages, so that every citizen benefits from President Samia’s visionary initiative.
Dr Ndumbaro assured that the campaign would extend to all councils, districts, wards, villages and streets in both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
He said no case would go unresolved and that those violating people’s rights would be held accountable. He stressed that every dispute would be addressed through the first and second phases of the campaign, en suring that all Tanzanians in need of legal aid would be reached.
