KAGERA: WOMEN entrepreneurs in Bukoba face significant challenges in expanding their businesses due to a lack of capital and essential business skills.
Kagera Regional Chairperson of the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), Ivona Bajumuzi, pointed out these obstacles during a one-day training session titled “Mama Amka,” attended by local women entrepreneurs.
“Women are the backbone of the nation and the first teachers of every child. Great leaders, including the first President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and our late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, were all born of women,” she stated.
Bajumuzi emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing women’s empowerment to help them achieve their goals.
She called for increased efforts to strengthen economic groups for women and youth by enhancing their access to information and resources.

She also urged directors from the eight councils Muleba, Bukoba DC, Biharamulo, Ngara, Karagwe, Kyerwa, Missenyi, and Bukoba Municipal to assist women entrepreneurs in securing loans from financial institutions.
As of now, approximately 300 TWCC members have registered, with ongoing efforts to recruit more.
Mr. Mayamba Mbilinyi, Director of STEIN Group, announced plans to extend “Mama Amka” training sessions to other regions.
“In addition to ‘Mama Amka,’ we are also planning to launch ‘Vijana Amka’ training sessions to reach more youth across the country and equip them with entrepreneurship skills,” he said.
