Arusha sets aside 5.5bn/- for youth, women, PWD loans

ARUSHA: ARUSHA City Council has allocated more than 5.5bn/- in the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year to provide loans to special groups including women, youth and people with disabilities.

A statement issued by Arusha City Council Executive Director, John Kayombo over the weekend, said eligible groups have been invited to submit applications through local government offices in their respective areas.

Kayombo said applicants must submit their applications together with a recognition certificate issued by the Arusha City Council and must either be engaged in small- or medium-scale entrepreneurial activities or planning to establish such businesses.

He said women’s and youth groups must have at least five members, while groups of people with disabilities should have a minimum of two members.

According to him, under Regulation 6(a) (1), a person with a disability may qualify for a loan as a member of a group of people with disabilities if the council’s management team is satisfied that the individual cannot find another person with a disability to form a group within their area.
