KMC, Azam face off in PL showdown
KINONDONI Municipal Council (KMC) is set to take on Azam FC today in a much-anticipated NBC Premier League encounter at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
With experienced players on both sides, coaches predict today’s match to be fiercely competitive.
KMC come into this fixture riding high, after securing a victory against newly promoted Ken Gold.
They aim to maintain that winning momentum, as they face the ice cream makers – Azam FC, who are eager to claim their first league victory after two draws.
Azam FC Head Coach Rachid Taoussi acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating: “We are facing one of the best teams in the league.
Our preparation has been thorough, and our goal is to secure vital points.
We are Azam and we want to win,” he said, adding that they respect KMC.
Taoussi expressed his delight at the return of key players from international duty, adding: “I’m happy that our national team players are back; they bring extra strength to the squad.
We had chances in our last match but failed to convert, if we get chances against KMC, we will be more precise.”
Despite a disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League after being eliminated by Rwandan side, APR and having two league draws, Azam are determined to showcase their strength against KMC.
KMC Assistant Coach, John Matambala, emphasised the importance of today’s match, recognising the challenge posed by Azam’s experienced roster.
“We know it will be a tough encounter, but we are well-prepared,” he stated.
Matambala also mentioned that they have addressed issues from their previous match against KenGold and are optimistic about creating more scoring opportunities.
