MWANZA : KITANGIRI stamped authority in the ongoing Angeline Jimbo Cup tournament following their impressive 3-0 win over Nyamanoro in their opening match at Mwanza Baptists ground over the weekend.
Kitangiri netted their goals through Leonard Mafuru in the 10th minute, Khalfan Mkama in the 30th minute and Eric Mabogo in the 89th minute.
Kitangiri team ‘s skipper, Eric Mabogo said the success of his team is due to the dedication and commitment of the players.
He said their opponents played well despite conceding a big number of goals saying what let their opponents down was merely technical weakness.
He called on fans to come to the venue to encourage them so that they can do better.
In other matches staged on the day, Nyasaka drew 2-2 with Kiseke at Sabasaba ground.
In Group C, Nyakato sealed a barren draw with Kahama in a match staged at Buswelu Secondary School ground.
In group D, Kayenze fought to a barren draw with Bezi in a match played at Bugogwa Primary School.
“The tournament is going on well and everything is in place,” said the Jimbo Cup tournament’s organizer, Almas Moshi.
Moshi thanked the fans and football stakeholders for their support.
The competition continues today when Shibula play against Bugogwa in a group D match at the Bugogwa Primary School ground.
In group C, Mecco will face Buswelu at the Buswelu Secondary School ground while in group B, Kawekamo will play against Buzuruga at the Sabasaba Primary School ground.
In group A, Kirumba are pitted against Ibungiro at the Baptist ground.
Moshi has asked the coaches of various teams in Mwanza region to come and watch matches so that they can choose players they see suitable for their teams.
