THE Vice-Chairman of ruling party CCM, Mr Abdulrahman Kinana has urged the Geita Town Council officers to carefully manage building and construction activities by making sure that they are conducted in a well-planned manner.
Mr Kinana made the remarks recently during his official visit in Geita after inspecting several strategic projects. He explained that he wishes to see Geita become a model town.
“Set up a budget for urban planning, identify what should be located where, all government offices should be located in the same area, they are to be closer to people to ease provision of services,” he said.
Mr Kinana expressed his displeasure with the condition of street lights in Geita Town, many of which do not function. He ordered the authorities to take immediate measures to end the nuisance.
Geita Town Council Planning Officer, Ms Barbara Mustafa said they have already set guidelines to ensure all building and construction activities comply with urban planning.
Ms Barbara said the council has authorised local officials to be consulted for assurance of urban planning considerations.
