Kilombero 2022: Uhuru Open beckons golfers

ALL is set as Kilombero Country Club of Morogoro has sent invitation to golfers to play in Uhuru Golf Competition.

The first-ever Uhuru competition is scheduled to be staged as among the events to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Independence on December 9 this year.

The tournament will be staged at the expensive 9-hole course.

Club’s Chairman Fakihi Fadhili who organises of the competition, told the ‘Daily News’ from Morogoro on Monday that preparation is in top gear for the event to take place.

“All is going on well so far; the course is in good condition too. We have already sent invitations to other clubs and individual golfers for them to consider,” he said.

Fadhili added that the competition is open for the men’s, ladies and juniors’ golfers who wish to battle for the top honour.

He stressed that the fabulous prizes are also ready to be grabbed by winners of all categories.

The chairman has urged golfers to come forward and take part in the tournament so as to make it a huge success.

According to Fadhili, the 18 holes competition will be played in a  stroke-play style.

He said Kilombero Sugar Company through Bwana Sukari banner is the main sponsor of the tournament and that they also prepare to make it a memorable event.

“We welcome all golfers to come forward and take part in this prestigious event, we are planning to have a wonderful battle to commemorate our Independence Day, it is a special day and we hope all of you will enjoy our hospitality,” added.

He insisted: “Is going to be a delightful event, as we approach the end of the year and is also good for golfers and an ideal platform to come together before the festive season.”

Fadhili noted that the deadline for registration for those wishing to participate is tomorrow evening so that organisers can have a good plan for the day.

Fadhili explained that they planned to make the club more active in the promotion and development of the game by organising as many tournaments as possible.

“We are just getting momentum, we used to play club games, but now we have changed and started to be active, this is our third competition since started of this year and hope for many years to come,” he said.
