Kilimanjaro traditional leaders commend Samia

KILIMANJARO: TRADITIONAL leaders in Kilimanjaro Region have commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued recognition and cooperation with them in nation-building efforts.
The retired Chairman of the Union Chiefs of Tanzania, Mr Frank Marealle, made the remarks during the recent installation ceremony of the Chief of Machame, Mr Gilbert Giliard Shangali, held in Machame, Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region.
“By prioritising tribal leaders and involving them in government activities, including those related to national development, Chief Hangaya, who is the President of Tanzania, has significantly contributed to preserve and promote the culture, traditions and customs of Tanzanians.
On behalf of the chiefs of the Kilimanjaro Region, I sincerely thank President Samia for her commitment to promote Tanzanian culture by organising various meetings with Chiefs and involving traditional and cultural leaders in government activities,” said Chief Marealle.

He further said that the cooperation between President Samia and tribal leaders has also contributed significantly to promoting peace and unity among Tanzanians, which he said was very important for the development of any nation.
Chief Marealle urged Tanzanians to support President Samia by ensuring that the existing peace continues to be safeguarded.
He also urged the installed Machame Chief to cooperate with the government and the community at large in resolving unnecessary conflicts and ensuring that peace and solidarity continue to prevail within the community.
Expressing his gratitude, Chief Shangali, pledged to cooperate with the government at all levels of administration.
He also promised to work with the government to address and eliminate violence against children, women and the elderly, aiming to build a society rooted in love, unity and solidarity.
The Chief from Maasai community in Same District, Kilimanjaro Region Mr Paul Kiboko ole Munga, said traditional leaders were the important link between people and the government and that President Samia’s decision to cooperate with them was an important foundation in strengthening unity among Tanzanians.
