Kilimanjaro RC pleased with census progress

KILIMANJARO Regional Commissioner Nurdin Babu has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the National Population and Housing Census in various areas of the region.
“Until now, available information shows that there is high awareness among the members of the public and people have cooperated well with the census clerks,” Mr Babu told reporters last Wednesday.
He appealed to those who have not yet been reached to be patient since no single household or person in the region will be left out in the ongoing exercise.
The Regional Sheikh Shaban Mlewa called upon those who had participated in the exercise to be good Ambassadors and encourage those who have not yet been counted.
“May I take this opportunity to appeal to those who have taken part in the exercise to ensure that they encourage their colleagues to cooperate with the census clerks when they are reached because doing so would make the exercise successful and help the government make good plans for developments of its people,” he said.
Rombo District Commissioner Colonel Hamis Maiga said the exercise was progressing well in the district, whereby on the second day of the exercise many people showed up and were cooperative to the census clerks who approached them.
He further said in order to make the exercise a success, the district authorities had created five sub-committees which he said were working in the district while the population and housing census exercise continued.
