Kikwete’s advice to scholars

DAR ES SALAAM: Former President and the incumbent Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) Dr Jakaya Kikwete has urged scholars to continue working hard in their studies.

He made the remarks after presiding over the Sixteenth Graduation Ceremony Cluster II of the Dar es Salaam College of Education (DUCE) on Tuesday at the school’s main campus in the city.

In his brief remarks to the new graduands, Dr Kikwete says, “Always aim high to reach far by proceeding with your studies, do not cease studying.”

On his part, Acting Principal Prof. Stephen Maluka has urged the graduates to utilise well the acquired skills in order to solve challenges they will face wherever they go.

He also advise them to be good DUCE ambassadors wherever they go and that the doors are always open when they want to come back to pursue further their studies.

A total of 1,835 students have been decorated of whom, 891 are men and 944 are women.

The best overall student for DUCE’s 2023 graduation ceremony is Sadi Hamis who has scooped a 4.9 GPA in the Bachelor of Education Science.

“To those we are leaving behind, continue to work hard in your studies…have the spirit to go to the library to study and not rely to be fed by lectures alone.

“Also, take good care of your health and remember that there is a deadly disease of HIV/AIDS. Do not be involved in drugs,” he says.

Due to his incredible performance, Saidi has been presented with his certificate by UDSM’s Chancellor Dr. Kikwete at the ceremony while the rest will be communicated on how they will receive their academic certificates.
