Former President Jakaya Kikwete is set to grace a charity ‘Nifuate’ match between Mbwana Samatta team against Ali Kiba side at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.
The proceeds of the game are meant to support premature births at Kibiti District Hospital in Coastal Region and Buhigwe District Hospital in Kigoma.
Briefing media on Monday afternoon in the city, Samatta said he was thrilled to once again be part of this life-saving initiative.
“We want to help babies who are born prematurely so that they can grow up and become adults just like us,” Samatta said.
However, his counterpart Kiba was not present at the media briefing.
Earlier, Dorris Mollel, one of the organisers of the event reveals that premature deaths account to 48 percentage in the country.
She also bears witness that she was born premature but has managed to survive until now when she is 31 years old.
