Former President Jakaya Kikwete has expressed his appreciations to the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) for its generous support to children with cardiovascular (heart) related diseases.
The fourth phase President issued a certificate of appreciation to the regulator for being among key sponsors of TPDC Marathon held in Dar es Salaam today (Sunday).
The well-attended and colourful event brought together the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), PURA, NGOs and individuals to accomplish the task of raising funds to cover medical expenses for 50 children at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI).
Speaking at the event after receiving the certificate of appreciation, a representative from PURA, Mr Ebeneza Mollel said the regulator was sincerely humbled for the appreciations from the former Head of State as well as taking part in the initiative which aims at saving the lives of children.
“We are delighted to be part of this crucial event and for the invitation extended to us by TPDC to be among the sponsors. We are looking forward to contributing more in the future so as cover medical expenses for more vulnerable children,” commented Mr Ebeneza.
TPDC Marathon brought together over 600 participants (both professionals and non-professionals) in the categories of 5, 10, and 21 kilometers.
In attendance at the event were dignitaries including TPDC Board Chairman Ambassador Ombeni Sefue, government officials, company representatives, not-for-profit organizations, and various media organizations.
