Kihwelo takes KMC helm, Hitimana fired
THE newly appointed KMC Head Coach Jamhuri Kihwelo has demanded good cooperation from the management of the club in order to help push it further.
Kiwelu took charge of the team following the sacking of the coach Thiery Hitimana and his entire technical bench with a few games to go before the season ends.
As it stands, the Kinondoni-based side occupies 14 th place on the log with 26 points from 26 matches, which is not a safe position as it is very close to relegation demon.
“First of all, I would like to commend the management of the club for the trust shown in me and I believe that if we work well together, we are going to drive the team where it deserves,” he said.
He added that his arrival does not mean that things will take an overnight change as he needs time to build a new technical bench he is going to work with.
“My predecessor was not a bad coach at all, only that sometimes, unconvincing moment passes through in the team leading to poor results,” he remarked.
Moreover, Kihwelo wondered as to why KMC is performing poorly in the league despite having all the required infrastructures that a modern football club is entitled to have.
“KMC is similar to Azam, they have good infrastructures but their overall performance is on the pitch is far from desirable. I am confident that if I can be given a chance to coach Azam, I can help them to clinch league titles for at least three times consecutively,” he said.
Again, the seasoned coach reiterated that together with his colleagues, they are set to groom a new KMC so as to make the team to climb up from the play-off position they are currently occupying.
On his part, the club’s Chairman of the Board Songoro Mnyonge said the board has reached a the decision to part ways with Hitimana following his failure to unite the team.
“There was no unity in the squad as such; players were not putting it all on the battlefield thereby causing their work rate to decline hence losing matches,” he said.
KMC’s previous league encounter saw them losing 2-0 to Geita Gold at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
