Kibamba rolls out digital drive with ICT boost

DAR ES SALAAM: KIBAMBA Constituency has launched a new initiative to accelerate the use of digital technology in public services, with the education sector becoming the first beneficiary as authorities seek to modernise administration and improve service delivery.

Speaking during the launch of the ‘Make Kibamba Digital’ strategy at Anazaki Primary School in Kimara, Minister of Communication and Information Technology and Kibamba MP, Ms Agellah Kairuki said the programme will begin by strengthening the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the constituency’s education department before expanding to other public institutions.

The launch coincided with the handover of 20 desktop computers and two all-in-one printers worth 100m/- to the Kibamba Education Department. The ICT equipment was donated by Bayport Financial Services Tanzania as part of activities marking the company’s 20th anniversary.

Ms Kairuki said the initiative is part of a broader plan to transform Kibamba into a digitally connected constituency, with secondary schools, ward offices and other public institutions set to receive ICT equipment in phases over the next three to four years.

“We will begin with the education departments, but this is part of a broader plan to transform Kibamba into a digital constituency,” she said.

Speaking at the event, Bayport Financial Services Tanzania Chief Credit Officer Ms Amina Amani said the company chose to support the education sector as it marked two decades of operations in the country.

“As we reflected on how best to celebrate this milestone, we asked ourselves how we could create a legacy that would continue making a difference long after the celebrations were over. The answer was clear, we wanted to make an investment that would continue creating value for communities and support Tanzania’s development journey,” Ms Amani said.

She said the ICT equipment will strengthen digital education management systems by improving administrative efficiency, record management and communication within the education department.
