Kibaha to allocate 1.4bn/- for special groups

KIBAHA: KIBAHA Municipal Council in Coast Region plans to allocate a total of 1.4bn/- to special groups, including youths, women and people living with disabilities, in the 2026/2027 financial year.

The council also aims to construct one health centre and two dispensaries, alongside implementing strategic projects worth 1.3bn/-, which include a meat processing industry valued at 524.7m/-.

The plans were disclosed during a recent Council budget meeting, where a 68.7bn/- budget for various development projects in the Municipality was endorsed.

Presenting the budget proposal, Municipal Deputy Mayor Ms Aziza Mruma said that the proposed budget reflects a 6 per cent increase compared to last year’s 64.5bn/-.

“We are targeting to collect a total of 17.8bn/- from internal sources, of which 60 per cent will go towards development projects, while the remaining 40 per cent will cover recurrent expenditures,” she explained.

For his part, Mayor of Kibaha Municipality, Dr Mawazo Nicas, said the budget was designed to address the real needs of the communities.

He added, “We have prepared a budget that will enable us to implement projects benefiting residents socially and economically. This aligns with the Government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people.”
