Kibaha residents to benefit from 420m/- road maintenance projects

KIBAHA: KIBAHA Municipal Council residents in the Coast Region are set to benefit from ongoing road maintenance projects, following the release of 420m/- by the council to address road infrastructure challenges across the area.
According to the Council’s Executive Director (DED), Dr Rogers Shemwelekwa, all 14 wards in the municipality have already received their respective allocations, which will be used to rehabilitate street roads and improve access to transport and public services.
“This initiative is part of our broader plan to improve the living standards of our people. Good roads play a key role in supporting economic and social development. We are funding these projects using the council’s own internal revenue sources. Each ward has received 30m/- to carry out the necessary road maintenance work,” he said.
In Sofu Ward, as in the other 13 wards, the news was warmly received by residents, who expressed their appreciation to the municipal leadership for prioritising road rehabilitation.
The Chairman of Twendepamoja Street, Idd Alfan, said residents are highly encouraged to see their taxes being used for projects that directly benefit their communities.
“The residents are very pleased with the Council’s efforts, especially since many of the roads were in extremely poor condition,” he said.

One of residents, Ms Deborah Mkoma insisted on the importance of the road maintenance works, noting that the repaired roads lead to essential service facilities such as hospitals, schools and also serve as key connectors to other neighbourhoods.
“Some areas had deteriorated so badly that vehicles and even motorcycles couldn’t pass through, today the situation is improving and the roads are becoming more accessible,” she said.
